Effects of Nodding Syndrome on Children:

Mysterious nodding disease struck Northern Uganda, more than 3500 children between age of 5-15 still suffers from the effect of this debilitating dreaded disease leaving children with lifelong disabilities.

Severe epilepsy-like seizures grip the children and falling, the head nodding several times a day, they would close their eyes and their neck muscles would go temporarily limp repeatedly drop their heads to their chests, they struggle to eat and become shells of their former selves, stunted growth and deterioration of cognitive abilities, intellectual difficulties, and characteristic mannerisms, such as an awkward gait and deadpan facial expressions

Nodding syndrome leads to malnutrition or even death through seizure-associated accidents. During episodes, a child stops feeding and appears non‐responsive, with or without loss of consciousness. It is a progressive and debilitating syndrome that robs children of their future. The victims are riddled with adject poverty, extreme hunger, relentless diseases, and entire generation is dying in silence.

A nonprofit that operated two clinics that fed and treated many of the kids ran out of money and shut down completely. There is no cure for syndrome. There are thousands of children with nodding syndrome without any aid at all. It’s a Brilliant genocide children dying like animals. This is a sad story that demand immediate attention from everyone including international communities.
